Independent Contractor Job Summary

Mid Coast Media seeks an Independent Contractor to work on a contract or freelance basis to complete a variety of projects and assignments as needed. Mid Coast Media primarily works with clients in the comedy, music and entertainment space. The Contractor will work as part of a team, supporting show logistics and publicity for nationally touring comedians; social media management for comedians and entertainment brands; and press coordination for several St. Louis / Kansas City festivals and large events.
Independent Contractor Requirements and Qualifications
Written communication skills (ability to communicate with clients and press via email / text in a professional manner; proficiency with AP style and press writing format)
Organization skills (ability to advance tour dates, schedule interviews across multiple time zones, multi-task several projects at once, keep team members updated on progress).
Familiarity with major social media platforms (FB, IG, TikTok, X, YouTube)
Availability for 15-25 hours per week (there is opportunity for additional hours)
BONUS (not required): graphic design skills, familiarity with squarespace / updating websites, experience with video editing (via premier or on phone apps like inshot), experience making creative content for social media (personally or for clients), familiarity with creating paid campaigns on Meta
Additional Notes
Clients include nationally touring comedians / celebrities. A familiarity with the comedy industry is helpful but not required.
Mid Coast Media is located in Grand Center Arts District. Working from the office is not required. However, an ability to spend 1-2 days per week in the office is preferred.
Most work can be completed within normal working hours. Sometimes clients - based from NYC to LA - require assistance outside of 9-5 CT. In addition, we handle publicity for a variety of large festivals and events - Big Slick Celebrity Weekend, Music at the Intersection, Flyover Comedy Festival, Great Forest Park Balloon Race, Soulard Oktoberfest and more - which sometimes happen on weekends (the fall, in particular, is very event heavy).
The Contractor must live in the St. Louis area.
PAYMENT: an hourly rate will be negotiated, based on experience. This position is open to new graduates through experienced PR / social media professionals. Extensive experience is not required, as long as the Contractor has strong writing and organization skills. Note that this is an Independent Contractor position (you work for yourself and Mid Coast Media is your client), is not full time and does not include benefits.
